With Saltina Shaker’s elimination, we’re down to a final five. Which queen will miss out on the finale by just one week?

6. Saltina Shaker (last week: 2)—ELIMINATED

I’ve come to really appreciate Saltina across her seven episodes in this competition. While her self-mythologizing around her confidence did admittedly grate, when she got out of her own way and just performed, she really was pretty great! That said, both her looks this week were among my least favourites—I hated her self-described “orchid petal monstrosity,” and while I’ll agree that her Brooke Lynn Hytes look could’ve been worse, it was still the bottom of the barrel among the final six. I wrote in last week’s power ranking that Saltina making it so far in the Slay-Offs could actually come back to bite her if she had to survive a Lip Sync for Your Life, and that’s exactly what happened. She exhausted her “moveset,” to use a video game comparison, and didn’t have anything new to offer, while PM still did. Sad to see Saltina go, but I do think this was a fair elimination.

5. PM (last week: 6)

I guess I’m just wondering what we’re doing with PM at this point. They’ve fairly won all three of their Lip Syncs For Your Life, so I don’t mind them still being in the competition. And I’ve actually really grown to appreciate their specific POV when it comes to drag. The “floating skirt” look they presented on the runway this week felt like something only they would do, and I think there really is a space for that kind of work on Drag Race. But let’s face facts: PM is not going to win Canada’s Drag Race Season 6. They still don’t have a win (neither does Karamilk, but Karamilk is also not going to win this season), and their lip syncing skills will only take them to the final four at best. I’d frankly rather bring someone like Karamilk, who is peaking at the right time, to the endgame than them. My guess is that next week’s gauntlet of challenges ends in a final battle between the two dancers, and it really will come down to the lip sync to determine our fourth finalist.

4. Eboni La’Belle (last week: 1)

Notice how Eboni’s moment of vulnerability was presented this week: She got down on herself in Mini-Untucked, and the edit itself supported her. The genuine emotion! The sad music! Meanwhile, Van Goth pushing her buttons about being difficult to work with when she was already down made Eboni’s best friend and closest rival look just awful in comparison. It’s for all these reasons that, despite Eboni finally falling into the bottom three as Van gets her third win, I still feel better about Eboni’s chances in the long run. I also don’t think her look this week was that bad, though I agree with Brooke Lynn that it generally needed cleaning up. But hers were issues of construction, not design. For this to be Eboni’s low moment in the competition speaks well for her trajectory, because it wasn’t too bad in the slightest.

3. Karamilk (last week: 4)

I join the judges in their excitement for Karamilk this week! She really figured it out and produced something that made Brooke Lynn look gorgeous. Sure, there were some construction issues in the front, but compared to what she was going to make? She really pulled out a Hail Mary on this one, and was rewarded with a runner-up placement. (I have her at #3 on this list, though, because Sami’s overall edit has been much stronger than Karamilk’s. More on that in a second.) Erdem Moralıoğlu seemed perplexed by Karamilk’s own runway look, and I’m inclined to agree with him on that. It was certainly different for her, and different for anyone, but that doesn’t make it particularly good. But still, that’s really all one can complain about with her output this week. Between her look for Brooke Lynn and her amazing lip syncs last week, Karamilk is peaking at just the right time.

2. Sami Landri (last week: 3)

If there’s a spoiler to the seemingly inevitable Eboni/Van final two, it’s Sami. Not only has she been doing very well in the challenges—I never expected her to land in the top for a design task—but the show is also giving her a lot of space to narrate her journey this season. When you see even Van admitting that she didn’t see Sami coming, and giving her her flowers, that’s a sign that the winds are shifting for the French-Canadian queen. Next week will be a big test for her: If she can demonstrate that her early season hiccup in the acting challenge was an aberration, and she has all the skills to become Canada’s Next Drag Superstar, the judges may be inclined to look more seriously at her. Right now, I’d say she’s in the Kendall Gender position: a solid third to a clear top two. But especially if we see a shock elimination next week, she may be in a great spot to surprise us all.

1. Van Goth (last week: 5)

Huge congrats to Van on her third win! We haven’t seen a Canada’s Drag Race queen score three wins in eons. The last was Rita Baga in Season 1! (Or, depending on how you count top placements in Canada vs. The World, Victoria Scone.) Two of her wins came in design challenges, which Icesis Couture can tell you is a pretty good recipe for winning the whole kit and kaboodle. (Not Kitten Kaboodle.) However, my recent concerns about her edit persist. I just don’t think Canada’s Drag Race would be editing her to be so arch if they really saw her as a possible champion. If she does win with this edit, she’ll be very controversial, particularly if that victory comes over fan favourites like Eboni and Sami. I almost wonder if Van’s near-breakdown last week wasn’t a hint as to how she’d do in a scenario where she’s really at risk, and we might see her suddenly fighting for her life next week. Might Canada’s Drag Race have a shock boot situation on the horizon? Probably not, but I’ll say here that if she does go, there will have been signs in the edit—signs that, even if she makes the end, might spell her doom.

[8,6,10
2853
78,89

50
58
33
2536
