Ok class….who wants to hear lots of interesting information about the plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems in our house ???
Why aren’t you raising your hands??? This is good stuff!! You should be interested in hearing all this!!
Anyone?? Anyone??
C’mon guys… A LOT of thought and effort goes into all these things. It’s important.
Act interested!
Any takers?
Fine. I get the message. This is boring stuff. I won’t write a whole post about the nitty gritty details of our mechanical systems that we put in our house.
I will say this about the people that were involved…..
We completely removed every bit of wiring and plumbing and started over. And, as I have previously stated, our house had no central heat and AC…so we were starting from scratch in that department too.
Luckily I already had great relationships with my sub-contractors that could make this all happen. And they did. Our electrician was patient with us as we carefully planned out the location of every plug, switch and light (thanks Tyner Electric). Our plumbers did a fantastic job replacing all our antiquated pipes and installing an awesome tankless water heater (thanks Garcia Plumbing). And…our HVAC contractor did a fantastic job of designing two systems for our home to keep this place just the right temp all the time (thanks JPH Mecahnical). JPH himself would even stop by with his border collie on Saturdays throughout the project just to check out what was going on. The kids loved playing with his dog.
All summed up…everybody did a great job. Just what you would expect from a bunch of home town boys (this is why I strongly recommend you hire local contractors whenever possible).
Everybody worked on our house as if it was their own and we were (and still are) appreciative.
While all this mechanical work was going on, I got a (slight) break from manual labor. I had been working myself silly for months.
I spent a little time catching up on some other things….like shopping for a new lawnmower for our new yard….
Buying Courtney a great sink for our downstairs bath….
We also got regular visits from Courtney’s stepdad who is REAL GOOD at heckling and REAL BAD at helping us get any work done…
To be fair, he was (and still is) helpful in one important area… entertaining our kids. They love a visit from their Papa.
Next up…Courtney reveals the selections we made for our house (paint colors, counters, fixtures and other “good stuff”).
Dawn says
Why you gotta call out Uncle Jim? He’ll have the kids driving and doing who knows what else before the house is all said and done. I call that a bargain. The Wingo girls turned out fine under his tutelage.
