I’ll be very honest.
Orange is usually not my favorite color…
AT ALL.
But when we saw these shutters, we just couldn’t pass them up.
The perfect, aged in their own time, not manufactured vintage finish on them was just too good.
Since orange isn’t really my thing these babies sat in shop…
and sat some more.
We probably bought them 3 years ago.
Finally Zack decided he was going to use them. (I secretly had a plan to paint them).
He came up with a sketch for a reclaimed wood armoire and built what looked to me like a fancy gun cabinet or other “man cave” something or other.
The finished armoire struck me as kinda earthy, kinda woodsy.
Kinda not my thing at all, yet kinda cool.
We took it with us to a vintage market we did recently. It received a lot of compliments from both men AND women. Then it started to grow on me (funny how that works).
After the market, we brought the armoire to our home to take some pictures. When we redid our house, I knew I wanted a very simple color pallette so that I could add in pops of color with my furniture, decor, etc. I wanted to be free to decorate as I chose without worrying about competing with any of the more permanent selections I’d made.
I think that was a very wise decision.
Because I’m in love.
This earthy, woodsy reclaimed wood jewel feels a little rustic, but the warmth and homey feel it brings to the space is just what a beautiful piece of furniture should do.
The orange is perfect! The finish is authentic and real. How can you not like that!
And the storage possibilities? WOW!
I could have this thing full of all the “clutter” I constantly trip over in less than 10 minutes.
As much as I love the look of this piece right where it sits, I must mention that it is for sale here… sigh.
If only I could keep them all…
